As is often the case, issues regarding government action are never
simple, especially where vested interests are involved.  The government 
may be right, they may be wrong, but they are always slow (sarcasm

Sue has waited at least 65 million years to be studied; a few more will
probably not hurt.  A career or two may be impacted, however.

My real question at this point is  - what does the US attorney have to 
gain by impounding a fossil?  On the face of it  he would seem to be
retarding research, or profit, or teaching opportunities, all activities
dear to the hearts of Americans.   Assuming that reputable investigators
support the Black Hills Institute, whose ox is being gored here? The farmer?

Any ideas would be welcome,
