re: hair or fur in pterosaurs
I doubt that the imprints are from muscles fibers in the wing membrane.
They would have nothing to articulate with if they were sitting out in
the middle of the patagium.
Actually, I have heard that these "hair" imprints are attributed to
collagen (a structural protein) fibers imbedded in the wing membrane. I
don't have any refs on this though.
