Overlapping Pteranodon bill

Darren Naish asks about the overlapping of the _Pteranodon_ upper jaw beyond
the lowers. This was described by Bennett in his doctoral dissertation
(1991. Morphology of the Late Cretaceous pterosaur Pteranodon and systematics
of the Pterodactyloidea. Unpublished Ph.D. dissertation, University of
Kansas, 680 pp.). Recently Mike Triebold found a virtually complete
_Pteranodon_ [UNC-8] (of which I have a cast) that includes a lateral
exposure of the skull, missing only an inch or two of the tip, and a ventral
exposure of the lower jaw, complete. Length of articulation to supposed tip
of uppers: 77 cm. Same length in lowers: 57 cm.
