Re: Is the Study of Dinosaurs Science?

One thing that needs to be kept in mind is the nature of science.
Despite how it is usually taught in elemntary and high school,
it is NOT a collection of facts. Science is an mechanism for answering
questions. The answers are *always* contingent on future discoveries.
Science generally does *not* produce final answers.

Thus, just because something is being debated by scientists does
NOT make it speculation. As long as the debate is being conducted
according to the scientific process, it is scientific. Of the items
you list, most are, in fact, proper scientific debates. Item #3
is more a matter of definitions than anything else, and it is not
yet clear thst sufficient evidence can be gathered to properly
address #1. But there is really little speculation in any of this.

*If* this is his basis for rejecting dinosaurs as science, he
needs to learn the difference between sound scientific debate
and speculation.
