Tom is quite correct, T rex was probably the fastest animal of its size in
Earth history yet known, and may well have been about as fast as smaller
tyrannosaurs, which were all fast. Young T rex may have been as gracile as
equal sized tyrannosaurs, and few animals lose speed as they grow up, even
though they become more robust limbed. So the adult horse is as fast as the
much more gracile foal.
