Here's an excercise.
Assume that Archaeopterygians and Dromaeosaurs are close cousins,
and that they diverged before flight developed. Then we should expect to
see some substantial differences in the way the Archaeopterygians are put
together, having been modified from terrestrial (or at best, arboreal)
theropods into flying animals.
Where are these differences?
