Re: best professors

My votes go to two fine field geologists, both deceased:

John A. Dorr, Jr., University of Michigan, who taught me how to
think like a geologist, live and work in the field (and love it),
and ponder the imponderables; he believed in me and helped me to do so as well.

William E. Ham, University of Oklahoma, who showed me how a graduate
seminar should be run. He was a passionate scholar who taught by
becoming deeply involved in the quest. We students ran along behind to
keep up with his measured strides.

I miss them both.
