epicontinental seas

It would not be correct to call such seas as the Baltic, Mediterranean etc...
as examples of epicontinental seas. Epeiric seas are not well understood and
the closet thing we have to it today is the Hudson Bay area. Even with this,
the bay area has been affected by extensive past glaciation events which may
contribute to this area being flooded.(?) Normally, when one studies neritic
environments and their relationship with the past it seems clear that both
pericontinenetal and epicontinental seas have been greatly influenced by sea
level changes. So far it is debated on what sea level is doing presently and
what the ramifications of a sea level changes will have upon the continental
margin settings.
