_Archaeopteryx_ definitely did not have the triosseous canal, but it did have
flight feathers and presumably was able to fly well enough to warrant
evolving the flight-feather shape. In _Archaeopteryx_, the glenoid was
rotated outward from its original downwardly directed orientation (seen in
most cursorial theropods), a position en route to the upward orientation seen
in advanced flying birds.
