Actually Mike, this mass extinction, like many others destroyed many species
in multiple environmental regimes.  Possibly as much as 80% of the biomass
was killed ( not from impact, but from climatic changes caused by the
impact). While dinosaurs get much of the attention, the phenomona of mass
extinction is quite common throughout the geologic record.  There are a
number of interesting references on mass extinction (a pet subject of mine).
If you are interested Rupp's work is a good place to start.
