Not if hibernation were not already in the salamanders behavioural and
physiological reportoir.

Festering dung! Dino extinctions are always marked by similar extinctions
in smaller animals. In fact the major dinosaur extinctions at the end of
the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous were identified before dinosaurs were
even known about because these events are so well documented in the
invertebrate fossil record.
