Besides the article by Scott Sampson that I noted in Dinosaur Genera List
corrections #36, volume 15 #4 of _Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology_
contains SIX other outstanding dinosaur features(!). First is
Maxwell, W. D. & Ostrom, J. H., 1995. "Taphonomy and paleobiological
implications of _Tenontosaurus-Deinonychus_ associations": 707-712.
on the evidence for pack hunting by _Deinonychus_ of _Tenontosaurus_. Then
Farlow, J. O., Smith, M. B. & Robinson, J. M., 1995. "Body mas, bone
?strength indicator,' and cursorial potential of _Tyrannosaurus rex_":
on the ability of our pal _T. rex_ to run fast. Then there is the first of
two articles on ceratopians
Godfrey, S. D. & Holmes, R., 1995. "Cranial morphology and systematics of
_Chasmosaurus_ (Dinosauria: Ceratopsidae) from the Upper Cretaceous of
western Canada": 726-742.
in which the species _Eoceratops canadensis_, _Chasmosaurus kaiseni_, and
_Chasmosaurus brevirostris_ are sunk as junior synonyms of _Chasmosaurus
belli_, the differences among them being accounted for by sexual dimorphism
and individual variation. Then there is Scott Sampson's article, from which
the picture of the _Achelousaurus_ skull also made the cover of the issue:
Sampson, S. D., 1995. "Two new horned dinosaurs from the upper Cretaceous Two
Medicine Formation of Montana; with a phylogenetic analysis of the
Centrosaurinae (Ornithischia: Ceratopsidae)": 743-760.
And three dinosaur-book reviews round out the issue:
_Dinosaur Eggs and Babies_, reviewed by Peter Dodson: 863-866.
_In the Shadow of the Dinosaurs--Early Mesozoic Tetrapods, reviewed by
Timothy Rowe: 866-867.
_L'Empreinte des Dinosaures_, reviewed by Kevin Padian: 868-869.
For cladists only: the Tree of Life project, which will (or at least may)
eventually hypertext-link all the described extant species of living things,
has been formally announced as set up on the Web at site
I've just been there; it's fantastic, if you can afford the connect time!
