Although it is true that the small brains of sauropods are one reason they
could become so tall (lack of heavy dental arrays is another), brainsize in
sauropods falls on the lower reptile line, as do those of some other
dinosaurs. Sauropods did not, therefore, downsize their brains from the
dinosaur norm. 

Although aquatic plants are soft, feeding on them stirs ups large amounts of
bottom grit that will leave their micro-traces on teeth.
