*** Ocean floor sediment yields clues on dinosaurs

Layers of sediment collected from the ocean floor east of Florida
suggest a massive meteorite struck the earth 65 million years ago,
leading to the extinction of dinosaurs, scientists said Wednesday.
Sediment cores collected by scientists indicate 70 to 80 percent of
the Earth's species died as a result of the collision. Scientists
theorize the impact of the six-mile-wide meteor caused dust and other
materials to be spewed into the atmosphere, blocking out sunlight and
killing off micro-organisms, starting a chain reaction. For the full
