Museums that don't have many display specimens sometimes have murals and
other artwork >instead<. AMNH has the display specimens, so perhaps that's
why there's not so much AMNH art. Interesting case: AMNH pterosaurs. There
have never been many on display, and the museum commissioned that famous
pterosaur mural. Knight was AMNH's premier artist, but most of his AMNH work
was done for publication, not for public display. His public artwork and
murals are in other museums.
