GIANT TERRESTRIAL MARTENS

It's _Gulo gulo_ actually (_G. luscus_ is a junior synonym). The title of this
message may have caught the attention of certain persons on this list. It is my
suspicion that wolverines are actually terrestrial martens (_Martes_) - I
haven't read this as a formal suggestion, but it is indicated by the fossil
record and similar bauplan of the two.

As large, terrestrial offshoots of an essentially arboreal lineage, may
wolverines be analogous to some predatory dinosaurs? Accept that there is a hint
of GSP/Olshevsky inspiration in this suggestion.

"Hey - it's me!"
