Skin, Scales N' Feathers

Here's a question especially for those lucky enough to have examined
Sinosauropteryx and Caudipteryx. After examining these specimens is there any
trace whatsoever of the typical tuberculed dinosaurian epidermis? If the fine
features of the feather-like structures are preserved, shouldn't the gross
morphology of the skin (especially if scales are present) be present also? Dan
Varner.
