Maybe you are thinking about this:

Chatterjee, S. 1985. Postosuchus, a new thecodontian reptile
from the Triassic of Texas and the origin of tyrannosaurs.
Philosphical Transactions of the Royal Society of London-B,
volume 309:395-460.

Chatterjee no longer believes this.
But yes, he has had some rather wild ideas from
time to time...
