Re:extinction/diversity reduction

There is clear evidence of many groups which undergo a reduction in
diversity and then rebound. This may well be true of dinos and their times.
A timeline using some diversity index (Shannon-Weaver, or other) against
time would be nice. There MUST be one out there in some publication
somewhere. ANybody got a reference?

I was just reading your posts about the extinction theories, and I
was wondering about the apparent decline in species diversity right
before the K-T boundary/impact. How many other times (if any) did this
happen in the Mesozoic -- where dinosaurs go on a short decline? If
there are any other times, are there any *good* guesses about why?
