List members will be interested to know that the ICZN has been petitioned to
make _Iguanodon bernissartensis_ the new type species of _Iguanodon_ (case
3037), replacing _Iguanodon anglicus_. If this motion passes (and sentiment is
running something like ten to one for it), _Iguanodon_ will no longer be a
_nomen dubium_ but will have a beautiful skeleton (IRSNB 1534) as the type
specimen of its type species _Iguanodon bernissartensis_, and a long-standing
nomenclatural gaffe will have been corrected. Of course, there will still
remain the problem of what to do about those miscellaneous teeth that
constitute the type series of _Iguanodon anglicus_--i.e., are they really
referable to _Iguanodon_? But that's not nearly so pressing an issue.
