Frankly, I think that rather than being an exclusive scavenger T.rex was
more an active predator and a "provider" for a whole community of
opportunistic feeders which would have feasted upon its leftovers.
Undoubtedly, T. rex wouldn't have missed the opportunity to feed on an
already dead animal, too, whether cleaning the leftovers, whether chasing
off some smaller predator and taking over its prey.
