casts are: 
lighter, frequently sturdier, and are replaceable when destroyed in an
exhibit as the molds should still exist.
However it DOES mean the musuem must have 3x the space for any fossil on
display if you have the original, the molds, AND the cast to deal with. 
It also mens you could sell casts in your gift shop if the original
belongs to your musuem.

They're from a different animal than the rest of the body is and don't
fit.
