Collection Manager Position


        Utah Museum of Natural History, University of Utah

The Utah Museum of Natural History (UMNH) at the University of Utah
invites applications for the position of Collection Manager of
Paleontology.  Duties for this full time position include: conserving and
maintaining fossil collections; managing computerized specimen catalog;
preparing specimens; managing staff, students, and volunteers; assisting
visiting researchers and managing loans; and providing logistical support
for fieldwork.  The collections include over 15,000 specimens, with
emphasis on Mesozoic groups from Utah and surrounding regions.
Competitive applicants will have experience in curation of paleontology
collections, fossil preparation, paleontological fieldwork, and people
management.  An advanced degree in biology or geology is strongly
preferred as well as a working knowledge of vertebrate osteology.  At
minimum, applicants must have a bachelor's degree and three years of
appropriate work experience.  The successful candidate will be responsible
to the Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology, Dr. Scott D. Sampson.  Salary
