RE: what's a "nomen vanum"?



According to my Cassel's: "vain, idle, worthless, meaningless, fruitless or 
groundless."  (Hmmm.  Sounds like me when I was in high school.) 
 Alternatively, the original meaning: "shade, disembodied spirit."
