A team from Sheffield University and Royal Holloway college, London
University, arrived last night in Madagascar the birds' former
stomping ground to search for physical remains and any evidence of
man's relationship to it. Searches have failed to find any complete
skeletons, but recent field research, headed by Mike Parker Pearson of
Sheffield University, suggests the creature was not hunted to
extinction, nor were its eggs taken for human food.
