Re: Venomous archosaurs
The reference is:
Sues, H.-D. 1996. A reptilian tooth with apparent
venom canals from the Chinle Group (Upper Triassic)
of Arizona. Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology 16(3):571-572.
"As _Uatchitodon_ is currently known only from isolated
teeth, its phylogenetic relationships remain
unresolved. Close similarities to the teeth of many
carnivorous archosauromorph reptiles possibly indicate
affinities to that group."
Also mentioned in the note was the venom delievery system
of the teeth of the Late Permian therocephalian therapsid
_Euchambersia mirabilis_ (Mendrez, 1975), and in some
venomous Late Cretaceous varanoid lizards. Another
possible _?Uatchitodon_ tooth is also described.
