They are available to all: modern efficient maammals such as cats, raccons,
possums, dogs, rats, foxes, coyotes; birds such as crows, raptors, and for
anyone else with an inclination. 

But their numbers are *increasing*, not decreasing.

Which I think tends to cast doubt on your theory.
