"Chilantaisaurus" zheziangensis is segnosaurian (and possibly part of the
holotype of Nanshiungosaurus brevispinus (Dong pers. comm. to Molnar 1984)).
My statement regarding Chilantaisaurus tashuikouensis was based on Nessov
(1995, pp.86-87), who tentatively assigned it to the Segnosauria. This,
however, was based on the incorrect synonymization of Chilantaisaurus and
Alectrosaurus, and the incorrect referral of segnosaurian material to the
later genus. Another example is Rozhdestvensky (1970), who referred
Alectrosaurus, Chilantaisaurus tashuikouensis and Therizinosaurus to the
Therizinosauridae. This was based on forelimb characters.
