Extant hominids (was Re: Progress schmogress)

Actually, it appears that there are seven currently recognized extant hominid 
species.  See:

Unfortunately, instead of one species each of gorilla and orangutan, each doing 
very badly, this means there are now two species of gorilla and two of 
orangutan, each doing terribly.
