RE: Maniraptoran Tyrannosaurs

To Tom Holtz:

I am still trying to work the bugs out of my charts.  An important thing for you to know is that I am in high school and have never used a data matrix (Is a data matrix a computer program?).  The closest, I'm guessing on my assumption of what a data matrix is, is taking a piece of paper, creating a table, listing features and checking boxes if a specific taxa possesses that feature.  Then, I take the results and group animals based on what features they share and what they could have lost or developed convergently.  That's why some of my work seems strange but it is based on true traits.  It takes a long time, too...

EXTRA NOTE:  Mickey Mortimer has noted that quadratojugal of compsognathids, ornitholestids, and tyrannosaurs is dorsally expanded.

What do you think, Dr. Holtz?
