It wasn't really that big of a mistake. Collar cells of sponges are sometimes called "choanocytes", so chondrocytes is just a couple of letters different.

How did I ever make that mistake?! This should have been the very dissimilar
word "choanoflagellate". Well, both start with "ch" and .... oh forget it.
