I suspect some Permian and Triassic prolacertiforms, among which several
lineages are well known to have been arboreal climbing and gliding
already had such dermal structures.
Dorsal skin flaps, somewhat squarish in shape, were reported by Dave Peters
for the prolacertiform _Cosesaurus aviceps_.
