Both live quite happily in the Redwood Forests where I
live but also live in San Francisco proper. Raccoons,
skunks, opossums and coyotes live in cities, suburbs,
woodland and forests - often in harmony with humans
(especially if the humans don't feed them). It was
once said that the favorite food of coyotes in
Griffith Park (Los Angeles) was poodles.

P.S. during certain times of the year around here
(Monterey Bay area) we refer to Opossums as speed bumps.
