And, yeah, always be polite and professional. Really, showing an interest
and being polite are qualities that will impress whoever it is that will
grant you access to a collection. Overall, based on my experiences, most
scientists are "nice" people and especially like helping amateurs and
students that show a real interest in their subject area, whether it be
fossils or astrophysics. <<
Definitely, be polite and professional. Being harasive (yea I know, no such
word) won't get you anywhere and even if you are not allowed to see the
collections (I've been turned down myself), still be polite. Things may
change and you may in the future be allowed to see what you want.
Let me reiterate, do not be belligerent or harasive (They are people working
there, and like people will be less tolerant to negative attitudes).
