MASS: 6 tonnes to 8 tonnes, for Giganotosaurus.
Isn't the above estimate the same for Tyrannosaurus rex? If so, why all the
fuss over the size difference after all?
Another thing to fuss over, when asked on what was the difference between
Giganotosaurus and Tyrannosaurus, besides the propangada rethoric about how
much more they would like to meet Tyrannosaurus then Giganotosaurus in an
alley, one paleontologist, R. Coria, stated "the Giganotosaurus' eyes were
"looking at you, like an eagle," while the eyes of T. rex were on the side."
Which seems to be at odds with what we know about the stereo ability of
derived Tyrannosaurid vision and the more side facing eyes of the typical
