Thank you for bringing this up. IMHO _every_ life form is truly useless, and 
the causes for its existence are a) its selfish genes and b) the fact that it 
has happened not to die out so far. :-) Nothing is "supposed to be here".

Of course uselessness is not a reason to kill anything off. Nothing is, to be 
precise. And of course nature hasn't asked us or anyone to do or not to do 
anything -- how could it.

BTW, depending on your definition of mosquitos, there are plenty of similar 
insects -- most of those that cloud the tundras in summer, for example -- 
that don't sting mammals if anything.
