In the two images that I saw posted, with the tree at 45 degrees, and at
90 degrees, the wings were oriented to produce uplift, with the thrust
vector helping hold the bird against the tree. Kinematics would have
been fairly standard, with a slight reorientation of the stroke plane
and body angle. Haven't seen an image of the bird on an inverted tree
yet, so can't comment on that.
