OTOH, modern big fliers like condors or albatroses (BTW, is there any indication that the former take off from the ground sometimes or do they always do it while perched, like Fantasia's *Pteranodon*?) have powerfull and relatively immense wings compared to body size.

Condors certainly take off from the ground - it would be pretty hard for them to feed at carcasses if they couldn't! However, after a heavy meal (up to 2 kg!) they may have to wait a few hours before they are able to take off; in an emergency, they regurgitate first to lighten their load.
