For animal taxa, the species must conform to the gender of the genus. For example: _Megaleia rufa_ / _Macropus rufus _ - the red kangaroo (a creature I'm sure you're familiar with. :-) )

An example of a dinosaur taxon in which the species gender was changed is _Tornieria africana_ (originally_Gigantosaurus africanus_).

Bacterial names follow these same rules, e.g., _Terasakiella pusilla_ (originally _Oceanospirillum pusillum_).
