Allosaurus size

A couple of questions relating to the size of Allosaurus fragilis. Almost
all books and websites list A.fragilis as being 12 to 14 metres in length.
However, most skeletons seem to be about 7 to 8 metres long. What is the
real average length for A.fragilis?
Also, the MOR 693 "Big Al", at about 7.5 metres long, is described as a
sub-adult. What is this diagnosis based on?
Any and all opinions gratefully received.
