Probably because Tim Rowe has been CT scanning fossils for a while and has learned how to interpret the results. He was the one who scanned Archaeoraptor and found it was a composite.


 Whilst the Chinese dino-birds
may be to squashed to scan, there must be some proposed 2F specimens
available.
