Isn't the Australian tektite strewnfield more or less of the same age ? 
There was an impact at that time but from the strewnfield distribution 
it would appear that the impact occurred north of Australia rather than 
in Antarctica. The news item mentioned that the original impactor had 
broken up and there were multiple sites of gravity anomaly. Could be 
that one piece landed north of Australia giving rise to the tektite 
field ?
