While on the subject of tyrannosaurs, but turning to phylogeny... its my
impression that there is a basal plexus of tyrannosaurids, comprising
_Iliosuchus_, _Stokesosaurus_, _Aviatyrannis_ and _Eotyrannus_. These
critters make up a paraphyletic assemblage outside of the clade that
includes the 'big'ns' (_Tyrannosaurus_, _Albertosaurus_, &c). However,
_Siamotyrannus_ is not a tyrannosaurid (or tyrannosauroid or
tyrannosaurian), but some form of carnosaur. And the jury is still out for
_Itemirus_, which has been linked to both the dromaeosaurids and
tyrannosaurids in the past. How correct is this assessment, based on
