RE: Brachytrachelopan mesai [was Short-necked dinosaur challenges accepted theory]
Quoting "Jaime A. Headden" <firstname.lastname@example.org>:
The name is rather confusing in an etymological standpoint: the Mesa
short-necked sheep-shepherd. The trivial name honors Mesa and his family, but
the name is modified to be a masculine singular genitive, rather than a
collective genitive (no "orum").
Thus, while the name may have been *intended* to honor the entire Mesa
does not in fact do so, instead referring only to Mr. Daniel Mesa himself.
