_Taking Wing: Archaeopteryx and the Evolution of Bird Flight_ by Pat Shipman takes a look at the origin of birds "debate," and is useful for its discussion of _Archaeopteryx_, although it doesn't give adequate coverage of the bird-like dinosaurs that figure into the story.
