Faculty Position Announcement

The Department of Geology and Geological Engineering
at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology
(SDSM&T) is seeking an
Assistant/Associate/Professor/Paleontology Program
Coordinator. A Ph.D. with specialization in
paleontology is required. Preference will be given to
candidates with research interests in vertebrate
paleontology. Duties will include teaching of
vertebrate paleontology courses, advising of students,
development of a research program, curation of
vertebrate paleontology specimens in the Museum of
Geology, and coordination of the paleontology program.

SDSM&T is a state university providing undergraduate
and graduate degrees in science, engineering, and
interdisciplinary sciences. SDSM&T has a student
population of approximately 2,300 traditional and
non-traditional learners representing 40 states and 24
countries. SDSM&T is located at the foot of the
beautiful Black Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota?s
second-largest city. Twenty minutes from Mount
Rushmore, Rapid City has a relatively mild climate,
and the Black Hills offer numerous opportunities for
summer and winter outdoor experiences. The region is
host to world-renowned fossils in the Oligocene
Badlands and Cretaceous strata of South Dakota. For

This nine-month appointment (April 1 through December
31) is being offered at a salary up to approximately
$60,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
The appointment will begin in April, 2006.
