you never know what will happen to the story once an editor gets
hold of it, and it's given some bad pun for a headline and cropped to fit
between the ads; even if you write a perfectly structured inverted-pyramid
news piece clearly explaining your latest research, if used at all it will
have some staff writer's or wire service's name on it and the facts may be
changed randomly. 'Twas always so, I'm sure.

Why do the editors have to alter and misrepresent the facts? Why can't they just be honest?
