I didn't notice it saying that, Dann.  Rather, the diversity of extant
mammalian lineages was, according to the authors, 'delayed'.  They don't
attempt to negate the apparent Early Paleocene radiation involving multis,
'archaic' ungulates, plesiadapiforms et al.
