Congress on the history of dinosaur research

The conference "Dinosaurs -- An Historical Perspective" will be held on May 6th and 7th, 2008, at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, UK.

Here is the call for papers:

Richard Moody (Kingston University)
Éric Buffetaut (CNRS and Laboratoire de Géologie de l'École Normale Supérieure, Paris)
Dave Martill (University of Portsmouth)
Darren Naish (Universtiy of Portsmouth)

The theme:
The History of Dinosaur Research with particular emphasis on personalities, major discoveries and expeditions; and the introduction, debate and acceptance of major theories or principles associated with the greater understanding of dinosaur taxonomy, palaeobiology and evolution.

Authors may also probe a cultural theme; exploring the role of artists and animators and the influence they have on our perception of dinosaurs over the last 180 years or more!

Authors are requested to send an abstract of 500 words [I suppose that's the maximum] by no later than Monday 28th January 2008 to rtj.moody_at_virgin.net. Accepted abstracts will be printed in the Conference Abstracts which will be made available to authors and delegates at the conference. Specific papers will also be considered for inclusion in a special publication.

Registration and Associated Events:
Registration will take place on the 5th of May. The conference will be preceded by a visit to the Waterhouse-Hawkins models at Crystal Palace and followed by visits to historic localities on the Isle of Wight and the Dorset coast.
