Hmmm... what if it was a aposematic colour and pattern? Gong et al.
2009 speculate about the possibility of Sinornithosaurus being
venomous. If the same reasoning could be applied to Sinosauropteryx,
maybe the coral snake colored banding could be a modern analogous
